Bright and Dazzling
There’s a new game in town. Actually, there are a lot of games at Pooler’s new playground, Frames ‘N Games. The brand new family entertainment center has 28 bowling lanes, a video arcade, a two-story laser tag arena, a Balladium and The Pooler Grille, a restaurant and sports bar.
This place is a party for everyone. Bring the family, friends or your workmates. Or, plan a party for real. The Frames ‘N Games folks are happy to arrange everything you need for a birthday party, special group or business event. On the off chance that someone in your group doesn’t like games, well, they can just head to the Pooler Grille, sadle up to the bar, and have an adult drink while kids from two to 92 have a blast.
Big, bright and dazzling, Frames ‘N Games is exciting from the minute you open the door. You hear the familiar rumble and ka-ba-boom of balls rolling down the lanes and sending the pins flying. It takes you back to your childhood bowling days, when you first did that one-two stride, swung the ball back – and dropped it behind you. (Hasn’t everyone done that?) Of the 28 lanes, 20 are regular lanes with comfortable seats and small bars with stools, and eight are VIP lanes, which feature coffee tables and sofas. Pizza and other refreshments are delivered to the lanes, so you don’t have to interrupt bowling – or laughing at each other – depending on your skill level.
The ball and shoe rental area has it all over the places you might remember from your youth. Here, the shoes are fresh and new and rows of pearly green balls glisten like mutant marbles. There’s a pro shop too, for folks making a long-term bowling commitment. And if you’re interested in leagues, there’s good news; Frames ‘N Games is forming them now.
It’s always party time at Frames ‘N Games, where party packages are an attractive alternative to the time, money and hassle involved in planning decorations, entertainment and food. Jane Simms, marketing manager for Frames ‘N Games, has already arranged hundred of parties since the entertainment center opened last October.
Jane is the perfect ambassador of amusement; she’s enthusiastic, down-to-earth and she obviously loves her job. “This is a fun place, and a fun place to work”, she said. “We host all kinds parties and group events. We’ve already had everyone from Girl Scout troops and birthday parties to corporate parties from Gulfstream and events for senior citizens. The seniors were a riot in laser tag. And we’re great for carefree kids’ birthday parties. All the parents have to do is bring the cake. We take care of everything else.”
Party packages feature a party host, invitations, food and bowling, and range in price based on number of guests and additional activities, which can include laser tag, the videogame arcade and the Balladium. The center boasts four party rooms for larger groups or a little more privacy.
Frames ‘N Games laser tag arena is something else! After players get their Laserblast vests and guns and a little instruction, they find themselves in a terrific two-story black-light arena with ramps, music and the adrenaline-pumping joy of running, hiding and zapping the heck out of someone. For sheer silliness, or if you really need to de-stress at the end of the workday, head for the Balladium, where comical chaos reigns as you shoot and dodge a barrage of UV foam balls.
The videogame arcade at Frames ‘N Games is loaded. Choose from Pump it Up, Nascar racing for up to 4 players, Guitar Hero, Golden Tee Unplugged 2009, Paradise Lost, Mad Wave Motion Theater, Rambo, Ice Ball, Cyclone, Deal or No Deal, Whac-a-Mole, The Price is Right, Sea Wolf, Water Blast, Photo Sketch Express and more.
After all that excitement you might need a little food and drink. The Pooler Grille is just the spot. It’s near the bowling lanes, which you can watch from inside, but feels like a separate restaurant and sports bar. Featuring dining tables, a full bar and pool tables, the Grille is a destination all its own. Have some appetizers – jalapeno poppers, chicken wings, Nachos, quesadillas, onion rings and more – or go for one of the Caesar salads, pasta dishes, burgers, pizza or sandwiches. And, since Frames ‘N Games is a family-friendly spot, there’s also a kids’ menu.
Jane Simms and general manager Rick Danis share the goal of owners Jimmy, Harry and Drew Patel: they want Frames ‘N Games to be a destination for fun. They strive to create the perfect environment where everyone is part of the entertainment. They’re forming bowling leagues, adding new games and coming up with events. One example is their lunch special, which includes a game of bowling and pizza. Kids of all ages need a little recess!
Frames ‘N Games is open from 10 a.m. to midnight, Sunday through Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 2 a.m., Friday and Saturday. It’s located just behind Cheddars at 6 Towne Center Court in Pooler.
