Gilliard and Company

Every year, over 438,000 children in the United States enter into the foster care system. The stories of these children are often ones of neglect, fear, and abuse. Among young children entering foster care, there are nearly 24,000 teenagers yearly nationwide who age out of the care system having never been fostered or adopted. This is often the scariest moment of a young person’s life. Not knowing what’s next. Gilliard and Company is a 501(c)(3) charity whose mission is to meet the needs of foster care. Our services include providing support to children transitioning through the foster care system, such as providing them with a nurturing place of comfort through our HavINN™ program and housing for young adults who are at risk of homelessness as they exit the care system. We are rooted in the Savannah community and have been 3 years serving nearly 500 children and families in Chatham County. We would like to do a lot more, but funding is always a challenge. Serving those affected by the foster care system is a personal testimony of what our founders have overcome. With a family history of two generations having gone through the foster care system, our objective is raising awareness to ensure that America’s most vulnerable children are supported by the community. Community support is vital in helping us raise resilient individuals. Without monthly donors, our ability to introduce a better quality of life to children who often feel undervalued is impossible. The donations we receive are used to directly benefit our children and families in need. Our monthly donors make happiness happen and are the true heroes behind helping to end teen homelessness in our community. “When we sit down and share our over-comings, we realize we have more in common than not. Anyone who has been through adversities in life can understand the meaning of foster care.” Whitney Gilliard, Chair & Co-Founder.
