Gutter business owner stresses fair prices, customer service

Adding to home’s curb appeal

Gutter business owner stresses fair prices, customer service

When looking at a home, gutters are near the bottom of the downspout when it comes to eye catching features.

Nevertheless, they serve as a sentry for one of the most important investments in a lifetime, protecting it from the damaging effects of water, dirt and leaves/needles.

Standing guard against these corrosive agents is Colonial Gutter Solutions, a company based in Brooklet that prides itself on quality work at fair prices and customer service that could prompt homeowners to shout from the rooftops in appreciation.

Colonial Gutter Solutions provides residential and commercial gutter installation and service in Statesboro and the surrounding area. It also features a showroom that allows customers to walk through displays and compare materials and colors. Along with the gutters, the company also offers screen rooms. Its owner is someone who’s led an interesting life that didn’t necessarily portend his current occupation.

Trevor Seigler was a top junior tennis player in Georgia and later raced motocross. He earned undergraduate degrees in psychology and sociology at Georgia Southern University and was working toward his doctorate in psychology when he dropped out of the program to support his growing family.

Seigler subsequently worked in landscaping and as a food plant manager in Savannah and Alma. Stressed out by the latter work, he took a position with Colonial Gutter Solutions in 2019 at the suggestion of a neighbor  and learned about the gutter business and the importance of treating customers in a friendly and fair way through owner Tracy Pollard.

“He was salt of the earth,” Seigler said. “He was an amazing mentor.”

Seigler absorbed Pollard’s lessons and in 2024, when the latter wanted to pursue other business interests, Seigler bought him out. “This really is my baby,” Seigler said. “I like dealing with people. I’m not a snake oil salesman. I believe in what I do.”

What he does is provide is gutter installation at a reasonable price, noting that some companies charge five times as much. “We are a brand,” Seigler said. “We want people to think of our core values and what we really stand for. We provide an honest service and show up on time and do what we said we’d do.”

Having a good gutter system is especially important in Southeast Georgia, where heavy rains and flooding produce standing water that leads to rot, mildew, insect infestation and wood decay. Falling pine needles exacerbate the problem.

“Flowerbeds in your gutter are a real problem,” Seigler said. “We install a high flow, double mesh gutter guard. It’s made of stainless steel and prevents flowerbeds in your garden.”

Seigler acknowledges there’s nothing exciting about gutters, yet he points out they protect the home and add to its curb appeal. In turn, the curb appeal of gutters is enhanced when they can be seen in his showroom.

“They don’t have to be doom and gloom,” Seigler said. “We provide multiple forms of gutter that come in a metal coil. You can come to the showroom and feel the gauge and thickness and see the different colors. We’re trying to be the Lowe’s of gutters.”

Seigler, 45, is married and has three children. Running a company is not easy, he said, noting he doesn’t get to clock in and out. “I’ve learned I don’t have to complete everything on my list. The list is a gift.”

What’s a gift to the community is how he runs his business and treats his customers.

“We know we’re not perfect,” Seigler said. “We strive for perfection and recognize that as humans we’ll fail. But we’ll come back and make it right. We do it with respect and as though it was our home.”
